Happy Easter!

4/19/2014  Who said 'day trip'?   Doesn't take much to get us all on board to hit a golf course or two.   Off we went to Corning and Lenox.    It was a little chilly and VERY windy but well worth the drive.   We started out in Corning and got a little off schedule with a detour on Hwy 34.   The people there were very nice.   The course was not technically open to the public yet,  but since we called ahead they had someone there to provide us with carts.

After a round of golf we went to the 3 C's for lunch and I wish I would have taken a picture of the grilled tenderloin Shirley got.   It was absolutely huge, would definitely go back for that again.    Then we headed out to see Johnny Carson's birthplace.    Nothing spectacular but was something to see on our venture, always have to check out the sights when we are there.

Off to Taylor County.....

Since my mom is from Lenox we decided to take a tour around town and check out all the changes.   Always sad to see Grandma's house gone but don't miss that ugly blue that someone had painted it.   Glad to see the two big trees were still there.    Looked like everything back to normal from the tornado that hit there a couple years ago.  Missed seeing any of the relatives but maybe another time.

After golf we stopped at Lakeside for our free buffets and we tried Alligator for the first time.   Didn't have much of a taste, Shirley thought it tasted like turkey more than chicken.   It was very tough but I don't know if it was the way it was cooked or if it is normally that way.    Either way, I wasn't impressed and now know I would not order it at a restaurant.

Taylor and Adams Counties..... Check!

Another big weekend is just ahead......
