Its GOLD, not black gold.....RINGGOLD!!

8/23/2014  Day trip to Ringgold County, Sun Valley Lake and it was a great day!

We expected hot, muggy and wet and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too bad.   Ellston had just received quite a bit of rain and course was VERY wet but was in the best shape I had ever seen it.
They also installed a new watering system so looking forward to what it will be like next season.

My cousin Galen joined us for the round and was nice catching up with him, so thanks for joining us Galen .   We hope you do it again!

Shirley was very proud of her divot!    Biggest one she ever had.

We did a lot of reminiscing while we golfed, and also afterwards driving around the lake.   Lots of fond memories there and miss it very much, but we will return again.

FLASHBACK!!!

The last time the group golfed at Oakland Acres near Grinnell, I sat out.    I decided to go back so I could cross it off my list because there was a conversation about doing all 417 courses in Iowa.  Yes, we are nuts!   It will take years but still I had to get this one done since I was the only one that hadn't done it yet.

They have made a lot of changes since we were here last and wow, what a difference.   Very nice course but the hills are a bit challenging.  No flat lies here.

Happy Labor Day!

We had already golfed at the 5 X 80 near Greenfield but went back again since they still allowed us to use the PGA card on a holiday.   Since we didn't take pictures the last time we were there, we decided to take some this trip for our album.

We liked this row of trees

The bopsie twins!

Well they aren't Patty Duke, but they dressed alike and even have bags alike.   Couldn't help but laugh when we pulled into the golf course and seen they had on the same outfits.    They are a pair!
Thanks for joining us again Tim!

Didnt' know there was a memorial there for a cousin of ours, Lucy Roe.   Very pretty!

We are looking forward to the next trip, NE Iowa and 10 counties to cross off.  We are really getting down to the end and pushing to get them all in before the end of the season.   Just hoping the weather holds out and the rain stays away for a bit longer!

I'm all updated again!    Hope you all had a very fun, safe holiday weekend.   Happy Fall everyone!

Or golf in Iowa!   We meet the nicest people!
